ADRA Canada’s executive director, Steve Matthews, and emergency director, Anita Odondi, reflect on their trip as they journeyed to Ukraine in support of ADRA’s assistance through the war efforts. They not only saw the devastation of a country, but the hospitality and resilience of a people. February 24, 2023, marks 1 year of war in Ukraine. But it’s also 1 year of heroic compassion in action.
ADRA has been responding since the first days of the war. These statistics capture some of our impact in the last year:
• 36,831 people evacuated to safer regions
• Support of shelters hosting hundreds of people in Ukraine and neighbouring countries
• 878,406 kg of food delivered to 41,829 people in Ukraine
• 11 current projects for ADRA Ukraine, while 10 projects recently completed
